A radio festival take place in lieu of the event.

Unify Gathering has today announced that they’ll be taking a year away from the festival in 2021 due to the ongoing uncertainty of COVID-19 restrictions.

According to a statement circulated by event organisers today, the festival was planning to have an event occur in March 2021 which was eventually decided against in favour of returning with a full-scale event in 2022.

“We’d been hoping to have enough clarity to announce the festival today, with the view to have it take place in late March,” the statement reads.

“However, without enough assurances that the event can go ahead in a safe and financially viable way, we don’t want to take any risks.

“Looking forward, the Victorian weather doesn’t generally get much better until November – by which time we may as well stick to our usual time frame in January 2022. We still plan to keep as much of our already booked line-up intact, and we’ll have some updates for you early in the new year.”

Due to the festival’s physical absence, Unify Gathering will hold a radio festival in partnership with The Faction between January 15 – 17 in 2021, which will feature archival live performances, artist interviews, acoustic sets and a fan-voted countdown of some of the festival’s most memorable sets from recent years.

The festival will also partner with Built To Spill and Pabst Blue Ribbon for a limited edition Unify slab of beer, limited to 300 nationwide.

Earlier this year, Unify Gathering announced that their 2021 festival would feature an all-Australian lineup to subvert COVID travel restrictions and hark back to their earliest events. Fingers crossed 2022 sees that come to life – we’re all itching for a mosh-pit!
