Ocean Alley announce COVIDSafe summer shows, push back headline tour

Ocean Alley have announced a string of shows around the country in support of their 2020 release Lonely Diamond.

The leg of outdoor shows will see Ocean Alley visit Melbourne, Canberra and Newcastle between January and March in addition to previously announced shows in Adelaide and Hobart, marking the first time the band will have visited these cities for headline shows since 2018.

The new COVIDSafe dates will act as compensation for the band’s Lonely Diamond tour, which has been rescheduled to August 2021 in order to subvert various COVID restrictions set in place by each state. The tour will retain both its previously announced opening acts, Dulcie and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, for all shows in August.

In a statement discussing their decision to reschedule the Lonely Diamond tour, Ocean Alley stated their intentions to deliver the live music experience their fans deserve, saying that “While things are moving in a positive direction, there are still huge variances state-by-state in what is possible across inside and outdoor venues.

“In light of this, we will be rescheduling our Australian Tour that was due to kick off in February next year until August 2021. It’s not a decision that we’ve made lightly – we appreciate that these shows have been a long time coming, and it may seem confusing given the positivity around recent seated shows that have taken place or been announced.

“We have been creating the best possible live experience for this tour, and we want you to experience these shows in the way they’re intended… a room full of people, dancing shoulder to shoulder.”
