Supro reissue iconic Silverwood guitar

Upon its initial release, the guitar was referred to (by the company themselves) as Supro’s “Finest Electric”. It has since languished in history until today’s announcement ahead of Summer NAMM, and frankly, we’re excited. The iconic ergonomic shape is still there, but the company has tacked on a very modern transparent finish over the top of your choice of a mahogany or ash body.

Elsewhere, a glued-in 24 3/4-inch maple neck has a prestigious-looking black satin finish with a Pau Ferro fretboard tacked on the front. The headstock, binding and pickguard all sport tasteful Supro branding. As you can hear above, you’re getting a ripping vintage sound out of Supro Gold Foil single coils with a lot of top end sparkle. 1950s wiring enables a lot of dynamic range, and makes it a bit easier to get clarity when playing quieter. If you’re wondering where you’ve seen this Supro before, look no further than seminal bluesman Jimmy Reed  a man worth emulating.
