Three Deluxe models, two Custom builds, and a companion bass return one of Guild's most iconic electric families to the Newark St. Collection.
Guild has introduced a new range of Newark St. Starfire guitars and basses, reimagining some of the brand’s most iconic semi-hollow electric instruments as part of its ongoing Newark St. Collection.
The new lineup honours the Starfire’s 1960s-era legacy of quality and vibe, while adding contemporary touches aimed at working players. Numerous Starfire models were introduced throughout the 1960s, spanning single- and double-cutaway guitars in various pickup configurations and finishes, alongside two basses. The instruments have a storied history among rock royalty, with past players including John Lennon, Dave Davies, Buddy Guy, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, and Tom Fogerty on guitar, and Phil Lesh and Jack Casady on bass.

The new range spans three Deluxe models and two Custom guitar models, alongside a companion Starfire Deluxe Bass, with each instrument available across several gloss finishes for a total of seventeen distinct configurations.
Sitting at the top of the range, the Starfire Custom guitars are positioned as the premier instruments in the Starfire line. They’re built around DeArmond Dynasonic single-coil pickups, paired with Guild’s Custom trim package, which includes ebony fingerboards, extensive binding and purfling, mother-of-pearl inlays, and tortoise pickguards, alongside gold hardware on GH models. The Custom models are offered across various combinations of tonewoods, hardware finishes, and gloss colours.
On the bass side, the Starfire Deluxe Bass reimagines the classic Starfire Bass II, a design popularised in the 1960s by rock players chasing full, rich low-end tones aided by the instrument’s BS-1 BiSonic single-coil pickups. The new Deluxe Bass is available in Sweet Tea and Teal the Deal gloss finishes.
Rounding out the broader Starfire family, ten Starfire I guitars span both single-cutaway and double-cutaway designs, fitted with either two HB-2 humbucking pickups or three Franz P-90 single-coil pickups, both built around Alnico II magnets. Several models feature Guild’s signature Vibrato tailpiece, and the family extends to a twelve-string Starfire I-12 in Cherry Red, alongside a left-handed Starfire I DC LH model, also finished in Cherry Red.
