Following the exact specifications of Berry’s own ES-350 model from 1955, the limited edition ES-350T is handbuilt by Gibson’s finest luthiers, and features a highly figured quilted maple top for a stunning appearance. The guitar also features a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard for a classic tone, while the split parallel inlays which adorn the fretboard give the instrument an extra touch of class.
Other era-specific appointments included on the Gibson Chuck Berry 1955 ES-350T include two dog-ear P-90 pickups, a gold-plated tailpiece and similar hardware to Berry’s own instrument. Obviously, being a handbuilt Gibson, this guitar is incredibly expensive – but it’s a pretty serious piece of craftsmanship. The guitar also includes a replica strap and a Zuni ‘Sun Gold’ tie similar to one worn by Berry throughout the ’50s.
Listen to how the guitar sounds in the video above, which features Chuck Berry’s own son Charles Berry Jr. There’s only 55 of these models set for release into the wild, so if you’re a serious buyer, you better get onto it.
