Sandhill Audio
Sandhill microphones move to alleviate this problem, offering their own range of high-end active ribbon mics that use a different composite material for the ribbon without sacrificing that ribbon tone. Sandhill ribbon microphones are constructed by applying modern materials and fabrication methods to the traditional and well proven concept, resulting in more sound definition, musicality, durability, and convenience than previously seen with ribbon microphones.
6019A Active Ribbon microphone
Their 6019A is the result of a team with years of experience with both the advantages and pitfalls of the ribbon microphone design, now offering a ribbon microphone with no compromises. The ribbon itself is made of an electrically conductive composite material, preventing audible distortion or risk of breaking the ribbon. The active circuitry helps to prevent the preamplifier from damping the ribbon while also optimising the transient response and low end frequency response of the 6019A microphone.
