Audio-Technica goes wireless with the ATH-M50xSTS-WL

The StreamSet now drops its cable, pairing the ATH-M50x’s drivers and a 20 Series condenser mic with a low-latency 2.4GHz link.

Audio-Technica has cut the cable from its StreamSet headset. The new ATH-M50xSTS-WL pairs the drivers of its ATH-M50x studio headphones with a 20 Series condenser mic, connected over a low-latency 2.4GHz wireless link built for streamers, gamers and content creators.

The wired StreamSet arrived in 2023 in USB and XLR versions, and the wireless model keeps the same pairing. Its large-diaphragm cardioid condenser is built on the 20 Series technology behind Audio-Technica’s studio mics, focusing on the wearer’s voice while adaptive noise reduction, with two selectable levels, keeps background noise down. A flexible boom holds the mic close to the mouth, and flipping it up mutes it instantly, which saves hunting for a button in the middle of a stream.

On the listening side, the headset uses 45mm drivers with rare-earth magnets and copper-clad aluminium wire voice coils, the same technology found in the ATH-M50x, which Audio-Technica says has sold more than three million units worldwide. Those drivers cover an extended frequency range with deep, accurate bass, so a vocal take can be monitored as closely as the footsteps in a game.

The 2.4GHz digital connection is designed to stay stable and resist interference, and the included USB transceiver plugs straight into a PC or console without any setup. Volume and noise-reduction controls sit on the earcups, and a sidetone function feeds the wearer’s own voice back through the headphones, which helps keep vocal delivery natural and consistent.

Two sets of earpads come in the box, with breathable mesh pads for long sessions and leather pads for more isolation. Battery life runs up to 24 hours, and the headset can keep running over the included USB cable while it charges. It also folds down to make it easier to carry between setups.
