Roland is marking 10 years since The Future. Redefined., the 2016 909 Day livestream that launched more than 30 products at once. The anniversary campaign runs through September and October under the banner Then. Now. Next., linking that 2016 event to what’s coming across Roland and BOSS.

Plenty from the original livestream is still around: the Aerophone digital wind instrument, BOSS Katana amp series and the flagship TD-50 V-Drums kit with its Prismatic Sound Modeling and digital snare, ride and hi-hat pads. PLUG-OUT made Roland’s synths expandable through Roland Cloud, and a tie-in with Serato brought the company its first DJ controller. Ten years on, keyboards, percussion, wind instruments and guitar gear all grew for Roland through the first half of 2026.
Roland will introduce more than a dozen new products across piano, drum, guitar, synth and professional A/V, starting with the FP-40 digital piano. It pairs with Piano Sphere, a learning app built with Skoove that adds guided lessons, interactive tools and real-time feedback to keep players progressing.
“The Future. Redefined. was a pivotal moment within the musical instrument industry that reshaped how we connect with our customers. We continue to look forward with this innovation mindset, both in our products and our customer experience,” said Masahiro Minowa, CEO of Roland Corporation. He calls the FP-40 with Piano Sphere “a preview of the connected experiences Roland will bring over the next ten years.”
Roland has also flagged Wi-Fi-equipped instruments, the latest V-Drums modules and the FP-40 among them, that link the hardware to online services, along with retail and Roland Cloud plans set out in its FY2026–FY2028 mid-term plan. The Roland Future Design Lab, where the company works with researchers and technology partners, points to what comes next.
