The Richard Bona signature head moves to the 58R platform, with every control on the front panel, an updated four-band EQ and a new bi-band limiter.
The Little Mark Ninja 58R is now shipping, putting the sound of the Little Mark Ninja Richard Bona signature head into a new 58R-series amp. That original head was a worldwide success and became Markbass’s top-selling head, and the 58R keeps its warm, natural voice, which lets the character of a player’s bass come through, while building a fresh set of features around it.

Apart from the speaker outs and the AC socket, every control and connection is now on the front panel. That includes the XLR line out with its level control, pre/post EQ switch and ground lift, as well as the effects send and return, so setting up on a dark stage no longer means reaching around the back of the head.
The four-band EQ covers low, mid-low, mid-high and high, with up to 16dB of boost or cut on each band. Next to it, the Old School filter rolls off the top end for a rounder tone, while a three-way rotary switch moves between Flat, Scooped and FSW. The Scooped setting pulls the mids down and lifts the lows and highs for slap playing, and FSW hands mute and the scooped EQ over to an optional dual footswitch, so either can be switched from the floor mid-set.

Markbass has also designed a new bi-band limiter, which reacts to playing faster and more dynamically than a conventional limiter and leaves the high end open, keeping the attack of each note intact when the head is pushed to high volume.
A solid-state preamp drives Markbass’s MPT power amp, which is rated at 1000 watts into 4 ohms and 600 watts into 8 ohms, and the ultralight ABS chassis brings the whole head in at 2.57kg and 27.6cm wide.
