Kennell&Co Impact Consulting + Strategy specialise in artist management, project leadership and workshop facilitation, the ‘Artist Assist’ program having been established in 2020 by Kerry Kennell, herself a Torres Strait Islander woman, lawyer, artist manager, consultant and facilitator.
The music industry has traditionally been dominated by male and non-indigenous individuals, so the ‘Artist Assist’ program will equip 40 participants from across Australia with the skills to establish themselves and build a profile in the industry for a more inclusive and accepting music community. The 2024 program includes workshops, tailored mentoring sessions and guest speakers. The program is supported by and partnered with Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), of which Kerry said:
“With the added resources from IBA, we can expand our services to reach more people, significantly impacting the number of individuals in the music community we can support.”
Support for attendance is available for attendees outside of Naarm, as well as remote engagement for applicants who can’t attend in person.
