Isol-Aid Festival announces special Record Store Day edition this weekend

In doing so, the festival has asked Chris Gill from Northside Records, Pat Monaghan at Rocksteady Records, Shannon Logan from Jet Black Cat Music and Andrew Bailey from Mills Records to select a list of artists to stream live from their stores’ Instagram accounts throughout the day.

Gill will welcome the likes of The Bamboos and Laneous to perform straight to the Northside Records Instagram page, Logan has names such as Frankie Cosmos (USA), #1 Dads and Tiny Ruins (NZ) on board, while WAAX, Even’s Ash Naylor and more will take to Rocksteady Records’ Instagram Live. Hermitude, Simona Castricum and Northeast Party House (DJ set) have been announced for Bailey and Mills Records.

That will consume much of Saturday’s programming, while the likes of Missy Higgins, Deborah Conway, KIAN, Ngaiire, Tired Lion, Vera Blue, Private Function and so many more will each perform 20-minute sets on the Sunday; this time to their own Instagram profiles.

This weekend’s event follows on from four hugely successful events – names such as Courtney Barnett, Marlon Williams, Stella Donnelly, Julia Jacklin, Jen Cloher, Tim Rogers and Donny Benet have all come on board to raise money for Support Act, Australia’s only not-for-profit organisation that provides relief for musicians and music industry workers facing physical or mental health issues, or financial hardship.

In the beginning, it was the genius of Rhiannon Atkinson-Howatt (Merpire), Emily Ulman and Shannen Egan of Turning Heads Agency that brought this fantastic idea to life. As a result, artists now have a platform for creative expression and a means to present their music in this time of uncertainty.
