Reverb announces carbon offset shipping program

In a statement posted to their website today, the company stated they’ll immediately start to offset all shipping-related carbon emissions by investing in carbon absorbing projects, saying “Now, when you ship or receive a package through Reverb, we will balance out the carbon emissions by investing in purposefully selected environmental initiatives that are close to our hearts—and hopefully yours as well.”

Reverb has also revealed that they’ll be investing in three important forest management and protection projects in South America and the US, with some being involved in the active prevention of endangered hardwoods and woods used to build instruments. The investments will come courtesy of Reverb’s parent company Etsy, which became the first major ecommerce venture to offset 100% of their own emissions last year.
