Vale to an Aussie music icon
Lead singer of seminal Brisbane band The Saints Chris Bailey passed away over the weekend aged 65, the band confirmed in a social post.

The statement read: “”It is with great pain in our hearts that we have to inform you about the passing of Chris Bailey, singer and songwriter of The Saints, on April the 9th, 2022.”
“Chris lived a life of poetry and music and stranded on a Saturday night.”
The Saints pioneered the punk sound we know today and are often considered co-creators who unjustly didn’t receive the same acclaim and recognition some of their British and American counterparts did.
Bailey formed The Saints with guitarist Ed Kuepper and drummer Ivor Hay in Brisbane and released ‘(I’m) Stranded’ in 1976 which propelled them to notoriety, ultimately being listed as one of the top 30 Australian songs of all time by APRA.
The Saints were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2001.
Kuepper said over Twitter that he was “very sad to confirm the news about Chris Bailey dying on the weekend”.
