The Berlin-based company expands its UFX series with two creative processors designed to deliver production-ready textures without endless plug-in chains.

UJAM has released UFX LOFI and UFX DISTORT, the fourth and fifth instalments in its UFX effects series. Following the success of REVERB, DELAY, and FILTER, these new plugins tackle creative sound degradation and harmonic saturation with a streamlined approach that prioritises speed and musicality over endless parameter tweaking.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

UFX LOFI specialises in the art of ‘beautiful destruction’. Its 20 engine modes cover everything from digital bitcrushing and downsampling to analog-inspired tape saturation and wow/flutter effects. Whether you’re chasing the grit of worn-out cassettes or the glitchy artifacts of early digital samplers, the plugin delivers character-rich textures across six main controls: Degrade, Slam, Drive, Frequency, Noise, and Tape Stop. The interface keeps things intuitive while offering enough depth to sculpt your sound precisely.

UFX DISTORT takes a different approach to harmonic shaping, ranging from subtle tube warmth to full-blown fuzz carnage. Its 20 engine modes include classics like Tube Drive and Screamer alongside more adventurous options such as Foldback, Rectify, and Ring Modulation. Multiband modes enable frequency-specific saturation, while the Speaker Select and Speaker Mix controls introduce cabinet simulation flavours. Seven core parameters—including Drive, Slam, Post Gain, and Lo/Hi Cut filters—provide comprehensive tonal control without overwhelming the user.

Both plugins share UJAM’s multi-effect architecture, pairing their core engines with a dedicated Filter section offering 40 presets and a Finisher module with 50 presets. This integration means you can move from filtered bitcrush effects to tape-flavored grain clouds without stacking multiple processors. Each plugin includes over 100 production-ready presets organised by application, covering drums, vocals, keys, guitars, synths, and creative sound design.

“Producers already have countless effects—it’s the creative spark we focus on,” said Peter Gorges, UJAM co-founder and architect of the UFX series. “Instead of building long chains of plugins, UFX lets you jump from a filtered bitcrush to a tape-flavored grain cloud in an instant.”

Co-founded by Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams, UJAM brings together virtual instrument pioneers who previously developed legendary software. Their mission is clear: shortening the path from idea to finished track with more fun, better results, and less complexity.

UFX LOFI and UFX DISTORT support VST2, VST3, AU2, and AAX formats across macOS and Windows systems. Both plugins are available now through UJAM’s website, with a bundle option available during the introductory period.
