Supro announces reissue of David Bowie’s beloved 1961 Dual Tone

Bowie famously played the guitar on his 2003 album and subsequent tour, Reality. The new hard-tail Bowie signature series is a limited run of 400, each piece instantly recognisable by the singer’s lightning bolt logo on the headstock.

The Bowie Dual Tone’s iconic body is a mahogany build, featuring a tummy cut and an ergonomic neck joint, a reverse stair step tailpiece, tune-o-matic bridge, butterfly tulip tuning pegs and a matched set of period-correct Vistatone pickups. Supro have made some contemporary alterations too, with a 12”-radius pau ferro fretboard on the 24.75” scale set maple neck.

A Supro press release said the release of 400 is the guitar’s first run, though did not mention whether further production runs would occur. Each guitar is numbered and comes with a deluxe gigbag and certificate of authenticity.

Supro is distributed in Australia by Dynamic Music
