Everything you need out of the box: Audio-Technica’s six new studio packs

Audio-Technica studio combo packs
Words by Mixdown

The third-generation range spans XLR and USB options, from the entry-level Creator Pack to the broadcast-grade Podcaster Pack Elite.

Audio-Technica has released six studio combo packs, each bundling a microphone with M-series headphones and the accessories to match – so you’ll have a home setup right out of the box. It’s the third generation of these packs to arrive locally, covering a first recording rig to a professional podcasting booth.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

Creator Pack

The two Creator Packs are built around the AT2020, a condenser mic that’s been a home-studio favourite for years. You can take it with an XLR connection, or choose the AT2020USB-X and plug straight into a computer. Both packs come with ATH-M20x monitoring headphones, an AT8700 boom arm and an AT8455 shock mount to keep handling noise down.

Streamer Pack-Pro

The Streamer Pack-Pro USB moves up to the AT2020USB-XP, a condenser with three noise-suppression modes that cut background sound without treating the room. Its ATH-M40x headphones plug into the mic for real-time monitoring, and the slim AT8705 boom arm keeps the mic out of the camera’s way.

Podcast Pack

The Podcast Packs use the AT2040, a hypercardioid dynamic mic made for speech. It picks up what’s in front of it and rejects the rest, which helps in an untreated room or a noisy studio. Like the Creator Pack, it comes in XLR or USB, paired with ATH-M20x headphones and the AT8700 arm.

Podcaster Pack Elite

The Podcaster Pack Elite tops the range. It’s built around the AT-BP40, an all-metal broadcast mic used in radio stations worldwide, with a switchable 100 Hz high-pass filter and a rich, condenser-like sound. It ships with the AT8705 arm and ATH-M40x headphones.
