The vision for the campaign was minted by QSC back in late 2019 when the exterior of their office was decked out with a mural of Keith Harring and Jean-Michel Basquiat by eight Melbourne street artists to celebrate the NGV’s exhibition of the pair. In a statement shared today, QSC Australia’s Marketing Manager Nicholas Simonsen discussed the initiative, saying “watching the wall come to life with such wonderful colour inspired us and got us thinking about other ways in which we could collaborate with the artist community around Australia”.
Utilising their K.2 speakers as a blank canvas for artists to let loose on, the aim of the More Than A Black Box campaign is to make the speakers looks as vibrant and lively as the sound that flows through them, with more collaborations to be revealed in coming months. To kick off the initiative, QSC linked up with Chehehe, one of the original artists involved in the Haring and Basquiat mural, with the company debuting his painted K.2s at urban arts festival Can’t Do Tomorrow.
From an industry perspective, it’s incredibly refreshing to see a pro-audio brand interact with the arts in a manner like this, and we can’t wait to see further artist collaborations down the track.
