Each of the eight custom Flying Vs is a one-off, pairing Gibson's angular icon with Sophie Hawley-Weld's visual world, with a selection later auctioned for Gibson Gives.
Gibson and SOFI TUKKER’s Sophie Hawley-Weld have made eight one-of-one Flying V guitars together, each designed with her and each with its own look and personality – no two are alike. Rather than dropping the whole set at once, they’re being revealed one at a time.
As one of Gibson’s boldest shapes, the Flying V is a sharp, arrow-like body introduced in 1958 that looked like nothing else at the time and has stayed just as iconic ever since. It’s also been Hawley-Weld’s onstage guitar since SOFI TUKKER began, an fairly unusual choice for a GRAMMY-nominated dance duo.
Catch up on all the latest news here.

Each guitar merges Gibson’s iconic angular shape with the duo’s bright, playful visual world, made as both a one-off design piece and a working stage instrument.
“Since the beginning of SOFI TUKKER, I’ve been loyal to the Flying V onstage and over the years it’s become such a part of who I am as a performer,” said Hawley-Weld. “Getting to work so closely with Gibson to put my own spin on such an iconic guitar and create these custom versions has truly been a dream come true. Each one has its own personality and story and I can’t wait for everyone to see them come to life throughout the tour!”
A selection will be auctioned once they’ve had their run, with the money going through Gibson Gives, the brand’s charitable arm, towards music education, access to instruments and health and wellbeing programs.
The reveals are rolling out across SOFI TUKKER’s US ANIMAL TALK Tour, with each new design played live as it appears. Gibson will share the details of every guitar, and how the auction will work as the tour goes on.
