This new addition to Pioneer DJ’s catalogue includes a Magvel Fader Pro crossfader, which features Feeling Adjust. This allows users to change the level of resistance to their heart’s content. With the knob mounting axis being highly rigid in the vertical direction, this DJ mixer can deal with dynamic scratching styles.
Also featured are two large effect levers that can control up to 57 different effects in Serato DJ Pro. These levers are the identical size to those on Pioneer DJ’s flagship DJM-S11, and work via holding them down or releasing them to turn an effect on or off.
With a lockable feature, these effects can also be used hands-free. Easy access to your favourite effects is delivered with two banks in which you can save them for later use.
Experimentation on the DJM-S5 is encouraged with performance pads that boast 13 different modes, including Hot Cue and Sampler. With the four performance pads on each deck, you can use samples to remix your tracks live.
Additionally, with six different cutting patterns to choose from with the Scratch Cutter function on the effects lever, even beginners can learn how to mix.
