Muse have shared "Hexagons," the fourth single from their upcoming tenth album The Wow! Signal, following a cryptic multi-city billboard campaign that had fans hunting down hidden fragments of the track.

Muse aren’t going the traditional route of an album rollout. Instead, a staggered billboard campaign across locations in Sydney, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Paris and London hid codes that unlocked previously unheard sections of the song, and fans collectively pieced the whole thing together online before the band officially dropped the full version.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The track opens with spiralling electronica before building steadily into distorted synth textures, haunting vocals and colossal electronic drum fills. Muse pushes further into the futuristic electronic sound that’s run through The Wow! Signal so far, while keeping the same intensity they’ve built their reputation on across more than two decades.

With themes of cosmic communication, technological anxiety and existential wonder, “Hexagons” follows previous album singles “Unravelling,” “Be With You” and “Cryogen.” Their tenth album arrives on June 26 and draws its central concept from the 1977 “Wow! signal,” an unexplained radio burst detected by astronomers that has never been fully explained.

On the live front, the band recently played a special show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton and are heading into a major North American tour, kicking off July 2 at Milwaukee’s Summerfest and wrapping August 31 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The Wow! Signal is available to pre-order now.
