Guitar Inspector – Fender Music Australia (Sydney)

Dream job alert! Fender Music Australia has an exciting new role for a Quality Inspector to join their Hoxton Park warehouse and maintain quality control for their range of musical instruments.

Skills / Experience Required: 

  • 3-5 year’s receiving inspection experience with background in either woodworking, sheet metal fabrication or electronic manufacturing
  • Musical Instrument / guitar playing experience
  • Knowledge of guitars
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Confidently work unsupervised
  • Excellent communications skills and workflow management

Tasks / Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform incoming inspection on Guitar and Amplifier components and other parts for conformance to procedures and specifications using the company’s quality criteria and standard
  • Document all inspection results, summarize results
  • Perform First Article inspections of various parts as required and create the appropriate documentation with results
  • Rectify minor product defects including; adjustment to guitar neck and frets and polish out instrument scratches
  • Work with RF scanner and SAP computer system

One of Brisbane’s best guitar stores, Riffs & Licks Music, is expanding down to the Gold Coast this winter, and they’re on the lookout for new faces to join the team. Could this be the job for you?

Skills / Experience Required: 

  • A broad knowledge of electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers, effects pedals and associated accessories OR acoustic & electronic drum kits, cymbals and percussion.  From new through to vintage equipment.
  • Proficiency in guitar & bass OR drum performance
  • Experience with guitar OR drum setup and maintenance
  • Experience with minor repair work and electronics/wiring would be highly regarded
  • Knowledge (and performance ability) of other musical instruments such as keyboard, recording equipment and live sound
  • Retail sales experience is essential, preferably in other music stores

Tasks / Responsibilities Include:

  • General guitar / drums sales (both in-store and online)
  • Sales of other musical equipment
  • Maintaining inventory, maintenance and repair of customer instruments
  • Merchandising and general marketing (including social media and digital)

Lawyer, Legal & Business Affairs – Unified Music Group (Melbourne)

UNIFIED is seeking an ambitious entertainment lawyer with a desire to step in to a supported role and continue their legal journey. The lawyer will be working under the supervision of an experienced legal and business affairs executive, with a long term view to working autonomously managing the day to day business affairs.

Skills / Experience Required: 

  • Familiarity with the music industry and independent music companies
  • At least 3 years relevant transactional legal experience preferred, that is, experience in intellectual property contracting
  • At least 3 years of music industry experience preferred
  • Active practicing certificate to practice law in Australia
  • Experience as lawyer responsible for a range of matters across the music ecosystem
  • Strong negotiating, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Decision making skills that are based on ethics and integrity
  • Ability to keep abreast of legislative changes regarding copyright throughout the world
  • Experience setting internal governance policies and managing the impact of external factors

Tasks / Responsibilities Include:

  • Draft and negotiate group businesses agreements, including intra company agreements as well as deals with artists, distributors, songwriters, talent, licensors, and digital services
  • Provide advice and guidance in developing and implementing new business strategies in the label group
  • Provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to UNIFIED Music Group companies, including, with respect to terms of festival appearance agreements, terms of engagements with various managed talent, conflict of interest issues, digital operations, privacy, competition law issues, and other arrangements with third parties
  • Assist in management of corporate entities, including the supervision of all corporate filing and registrations globally
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations, including the participation in the development and implementation of contract-related policies and procedures
  • Work closely with GM, Human Resources and external counsel in relation to all HR matters
  • Where appropriate advice and work with external legal counsel on specific matters
  • Build strong relationships with artists, lawyers, management companies and labels
  • Keep up to date with current and future trends in music, music business, digital trends & pop culture which you think could be beneficial for the label and our artists
  • Co-ordinate with royalty team in ensuring all relevant legal information is supplied for accurate reporting of all royalties

Customer Service & Tour Coordinator – Merch Fan (Sydney)

Merch Fan are currently hiring for a customer service and live music professional to join their Sydney team and help out with logistics. Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in the music industry, and will have some kind of understanding about how important merch is to a touring endeavour.

Skills / Experience Required: 

  • Attention to detail is the most crucial skill
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook and Excel is a must
  • Some Photoshop and illustrator knowledge is preferred
  • Excellent written communication
  • Excellent Customer Service attitude

Tasks / Responsibilities Include:

  • Co-Ordination of production and logistics for all Merch Fan artists
  • Liaising and appointing a team of local staff nationwide for tours

Digital Content Specialist – Queensland Symphony Orchestra (Brisbane)

Consider yourself as a gun digital content creator with a specialty in video production? Queensland Symphony Orchestra are looking for someone to pull some strings and assist with video and graphic design projects to support their digital campaigns.

Skills / Experience Required: 

  • Creativity and enthusiasm for creating video content
  • Demonstrated experience in creating compelling and beautiful videos
  • Proven experience in video editing
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to create high-quality compelling artwork that fits within brand guidelines

  • Travelling with the Orchestra on regional tours to film footage
  • Editing video content and creating short video trailers for concerts and other activities
  • Filming educational videos for the Community & Education team
  • Liaising with external video production companies and camera crew to create larger video projects
  • Acting as producer for the livestream of QSO concerts
  • Working with QPAC to create video content to increase the profile of QSO and QPAC
  • Facilitating internal resources, include venue spaces, musicians and staff for the creation of digital content
  • As required, creating high-quality graphic design artwork for internal presentations, proposals and advertising, in line with the style guide maintained by the Director – Sales and Marketing
