Editor, Pop and Electronic – Spotify (Sydney)

Here’s a big one to sink your teeth into. Spotify are currently looking for a music fanatic with passion for pop culture to assume the role of Pop and Electronic Editor with in their Sydney office, curating and programming playlists for listeners around the country.

Skills / Experience Required: 

  • Experience in music curation/programming or at least 3 years of experience in the music industry.
  • Knowledgeable of the music industry, culture and trends across Australia, New Zealand and key global music markets.
  • Thrive on innovation and out of the box thinking.
  • A strong understanding of and interest in the Gen Z audience.
  • A good reputation and a network within the local market music industry.
  • A keen sense of what music is appropriate for crossover pop/dance spaces from a variety of different genres e.g. pop, hip-hop, R&B, K-Pop and Latin, among others.
  • The ability to comprehend and efficiently respond to analytics.
  • You care about attention to detail and organisation, a great teammate, have strong work ethic and friendly.
  • Outstanding verbal communication and organisational skills with strong propensity to take initiative.
  • The ability to excel in individual work as well as with cross-functional, local and global initiatives toward mutual objectives.
  • Technical proficiency with common Mac/iOS/Google/Android software.
  • Ability to travel when needed (post-COVID).

Tasks / Responsibilities Include:

  • Curate, analyse and maintain a large number of playlists in a variety of Pop and Dance/Electronic spaces and Pop and Dance subgenres for a mixture of audiences, moods and moments.
  • Identify and substantiate playlist hypotheses for Pop and Dance/Electronic music (i.e. an emerging viral pop playlist or a local developing artist or DJ playlist; a lo-fi pop playlist or a downtempo ambient playlist).
  • Build and execute innovative programming and promotional strategies for playlists for the local market based on performance indicators.
  • Analyze analytics and performance indicators of your own work.
  • Manage strategic projects within Editorial and represent Editorial in cross-functional bets within the Company.
  • Present and report on strategic and creative projects within the market.
  • Work with Global Editorial teams and Global Genre Groups, as well as other cross-functional teams to progress towards various content objectives.
  • Collaborate with Artist & Label Partnership team, act as an ambassador of Pop and Dance or Electronic music for Spotify to the creative group and stay atop, ahead of musical and cultural trends.
  • Maintain local tracking systems for pop and electronic releases (upcoming, existing etc.) in collaboration with the Artist & Label Partnerships team.
  • Drive international programming of local artists.
  • Create and curate a number of emerging artist playlists for the local market audiences to showcase and help break emerging independent artists across regions.
  • Bridge local music trends to highlight emerging artists and sounds from the local market to the world.
  • Lead our cultural programming and partnerships strategy in collaboration with our Artist & Label Partnerships and Marketing teams.
  • Work across Global Artist Development Program RADAR to ensurethe local market artists are represented on the international music stage.

Production and Inventory Coordinator – Universal Music Australia (Sydney)

Universal Music Australia are hiring a Sydney-based Production / Inventory Coordinator to assist their Production team with the scheduling and delivery of new music, specialising in both physical and digital supply chains.

Skills / Experience Required:

  • You are a mastermind problem solver and superb self-starter.
  • You have an impeccable eye for detail. Some may say you have OCD tendencies…
  • You thrive off pressure and deadlines.
  • You have proven customer service skills and will go above and beyond for internal and external contacts.
  • You’re a Microsoft Office super user and also a nerd for learning new systems.
  • You get along with all kinds of different people and suppliers.

Tasks / Responsibilities Include: 

  • Maintain all physical and digital products through local and global Universal Music Group Int’l scheduling systems for allocated labels to ensure accurate and complete delivery on time and in full.
  • Timely and complete delivery of digital products ensuring accuracy of product exclusivities/restrictions, pre-orders, bundles, date specifications etc.
  • Manage physical product through appropriate manufacturer(s), and because you are a genius, you will consider any contractual obligations, delivery, cost and turnaround times.
  • Maintain the Universal Music Australia Release Schedule for allocated international and domestic labels.
  • Champion departmental KPIs across catalogue accuracy, obsolescence, stock ordering and fulfilment.
  • Assist the Inventory team on a variety of supply chain tasks and processes.

Warehouse Operator – Haworth Guitars (Wollongong)

Based in Wollongong, Haworth Guitars are one of Australia’s biggest online music retailers. They’re currently looking for a longterm warehouse operator to join their team and assist in making sure all their stock is managed and shipped to customers effectively.

Tasks / Responsibilities Required:

  • Receiving inbound stock
  • Booking stock into inventory

Responsible for distributing consumer audio brands such as IsoTek, Panasonic, Pro-Ject and Monitor Audio, Interdyn are on the hunt for a tech-savvy guru to assist in troubleshooting issues and repairs. This Melbourne-based gig will see you repair electronic circuits, respond to customer inquiries and more.

Skills / Experience Required:

  • An understanding of how turntables, amps and speakers work and can follow the signal chain to pinpoint where something might be going wrong.
  • You can communicate and troubleshoot logically and succinctly to people at a range of skill-levels, from the novice end-user to the seasoned industry professional.
  • You’re ready to be the national custodian of SVS, the strongest subwoofer brand in the world.
  • Vinyl is important to you, and turntables make sense. Your razor-sharp powers of deduction are critical to getting any wayward joy-seeking customers back on track.
  • You thrive in a busy work environment with plenty of variety, and can spot high-priority tasks when they present themselves.
  • You’re an excellent self-organiser, and are equally comfortable helping people on the phone, via email or in person.

General Manager – Music Rocks Australia (Perth)

A rapidly expanding chain of music schools in Western Australia, Music Rocks Australia are looking for a seasoned pro to assume a 2IC role and help run the show throughout the new year.

Skills / Experience Required: 

  • Experience in management of a team of at least 5-10 people
  • Experience with event management and planning
