Engine DJ 5.0 is out now, and it’s a big one for RANE SYSTEM ONE users

Engine DJ 5.0 is available now as a free update, bringing on-board stems rendering to the RANE SYSTEM ONE, RGB waveforms across all Engine DJ hardware and a handful of other welcome additions.

Engine DJ has released version 5.0, a free update for Engine DJ OS embedded hardware and Engine DJ Desktop – and RANE SYSTEM ONE users are the biggest winners.

On-board stems rendering is now live for the SYSTEM ONE, making it the first and only DJ hardware capable of rendering stems without a computer. DJs can either pre-render tracks using Engine DJ Desktop or render directly on the hardware itself, and tracks play while they’re rendering, so there’s no waiting around. Multiple tracks and playlists render simultaneously, and once ready, 4-part stems are accessible whenever you need them. For existing SYSTEM ONE users, a Stems option now appears directly in the playlist view.

Tom Stoffer, Director of Development at Engine DJ, described the update as a mix of user-driven requests and new creative directions: “5.0 is packed with features. Some are direct requests from our users, while others support the new open-format DJ workflows we’re introducing to Engine.”

Beyond stems, RGB waveforms, previously exclusive to the RANE SYSTEM ONE, now roll out across the entire Engine DJ hardware range. The multi-coloured display gives a more detailed visual read of a track compared to the traditional Triband waveforms, and DJs can switch between the two in settings. Engine DJ Desktop gets RGB waveforms too, so set prep on the computer carries the same visual detail.

Track star ratings round out the bigger additions. Users can now rate tracks directly on their hardware and use those ratings alongside Engine DJ’s existing library sorting and filtering to find what they need faster – a small addition that makes a big difference when you’re mid-set and need to move quickly.

The update also adds new 32-beat options for Reverb Rise and Reverb Drop FX, a refreshed Source Screen layout and a Stems Demo Library with pre-rendered tracks ready to play immediately on Numark, Denon DJ and RANE standalone hardware.

Engine DJ 5.0 is available as a free download here. Supported hardware users can also update directly from their device via Wi-Fi or wired connection.
