This year’s Music Victoria Awards will take place on October 31, again at Melbourne’s Federation Square.
For the first time, 2023 Music Victoria Awards entries are open to all Victorian Artists, having previously only been available to Music Victoria members, opening all artists and the venues they represent to nominations. 2022 saw the largest number of entries in Music Victoria’s history, and opening up the nominations is sure to see a massive increase on that.

Historically, the awards have been open to Music Victoria members only, and while their current membership reflects the diverse music city that we live in, there’s a lot of artists, both new and established, who aren’t currently members but are actively creating, producing, performing and releasing music. Speaking to this, Music Victoria’s CEO Simone Schinkel, says:
“With all financial barriers to participation now removed, we hope to create greater accessibility and inclusion across the Victorian music industry, and a true snapshot into the great music scene we have in this state.”
This years nominees and winners will join the likes of Sampa the Great, Baker Boy and Paul Kelly, while artists like Archie Roach, Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton John, Michael Gudinski and Vika & Linda have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Music Victoria’s Awards aim to celebrate the contribution, achievement and quality of Victoria’s musicians, the venues and festivals they perform at, as well as industry professionals that keep our scene active and thriving.
Entries open today, July 3, and will close on Friday 21 July. Register now to find out more or visit Music Victoria.
