The new model offers curves, bevels and a palm-fitting handle across guitar, bass and FM-style configurations for players who want comfort without compromise.

Ergonomics in guitar design often feels like an afterthought, something bolted on rather than built in. FM Guitars’ Orquidea (Orchid) flips the script, as a single-cut instrument designed from the ground up around how players actually hold, carry and play their guitars.

Available as both guitar and bass (plus FM-style configurations), the Orquidea sits at the opposite end of the spectrum from FM Guitars’ existing Esphera model. Where the Esphera leans sleek and compact, the Orquidea is single-cut, slightly bigger and thicker—catering to players who prefer that classic feel but still want modern ergonomic thinking.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The body features curves and bevels that fit naturally with the human body across playing positions: regular horizontal, classical, and upright. The bottom area includes curves specifically designed for classical position playing, though it works comfortably in pretty much any position you can think of.

One standout feature is the “Guitar Handle,” a meticulously designed grip that fits in the palm of your hand. This design makes the guitar lighter and easier to carry, which anyone who’s lugged gear up three flights of stairs will appreciate.

The lower horn design allows seamless access to the higher frets while balancing the guitar perfectly in any position. The neck profile is thin and strong, built without unnecessary bulk. FM Guitars haven’t added extra wood where it’s not needed, proving this to be practical thinking from a builder who plays themself.

The Orquidea represents FM Guitars’ commitment to creating instruments that don’t force you to adapt to them, but instead, adapt to you—whether you’re sitting, standing, playing classical position, or shredding upright. The Orquidea is truly something unique, and a refreshing alternative to guitars that look great but lack in comfort and ergonomics.
