Smart Audio Plugins releases Timbral Box harmonic processor

Words by Mixdown

The new plugin from mix engineer Alberto Roveroni adds harmonics and presence without sacrificing punch.

Alberto Roveroni, mix engineer and developer behind Smart Audio Plugins, has released Timbral Box, a parallel harmonic processor designed for mixing and mastering.

According to Roveroni, every section of Timbral Box works in parallel, adding harmonics alongside the original signal rather than replacing it, which allows users to add presence and rebalance parts of the spectrum without losing transients or punch.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The plugin includes Bass, Mid, and High processors, each with Shape controls and two saturation modes (A and B), alongside a parallel compressor with Full Mix and Instruments modes. A transformer stage sits across the sum, modeled on two 1970s transformers, while an Autogain function with Analyze and Gain Link keeps input and output levels matched. Natural and Linear phase options are available on every section.

Timbral Box is available in VST3, AU, and AAX (64-bit) formats, compatible with macOS 10.15 or later (native Intel and Apple Silicon) and Windows 10 or later.

  • Bass, Mid, and High processors with Shape controls and dual saturation modes (A/B)
