Shure returns as major partner of 2027 MPEG Awards

Words by Mixdown

Nominations are now open for Australia's national music production and sound engineering awards.

Shure has been confirmed as a major partner of the 2027 Music Producer and Engineers Guild (MPEG) Awards for the second consecutive year, with nominations now open for Australia’s national awards for music production and sound engineering. The partnership is powered by Jands, Shure’s Australian distributor.

“Shure’s partnership with MPEG earlier this year created a genuine connection with Australia’s studio community,” said Kurt Luthy, Executive Director of MPEG. “There’s a natural affinity between Shure’s legendary products and MPEG’s mission to support Australia’s music production community at every stage of their career. We are thrilled to have Shure and Jands return for 2027 to build on that relationship through the Awards and our wider programme for the studio community.”

The renewed partnership reflects the important role producers and engineers play in shaping Australian music, and Shure’s longstanding connection to the recording environments in which that work happens. From capturing a performance to shaping a final recording, the creative judgement, technical expertise and attention to sound of producers and engineers are fundamental to the records audiences ultimately hear.

“Some of the most important decisions in music happen in the studio, often long before an audience hears the finished record,” said Will Repanellis, Head of Marketing at Jands. “Shure has been part of that creative process for generations, so there is a real alignment in supporting the producers and engineers who bring that combination of technical skill, experience and creative instinct to Australian music. We’re proud to continue that partnership with MPEG in 2027.”

The MPEG Awards will be held in Melbourne on Wednesday, 24 February 2027. Nominations are open to everyone, self-nominations are welcome, there is no nomination fee, and nominees and winners don’t need to be MPEG members.

Further details of Shure and Jands’ involvement in the 2027 Awards will be announced in the coming months.
