Red Hot Chili Peppers announce Australian tour with Post Malone

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are heading back to Australia for a massive stadium tour in early 2023 – and they’re bringing a superstar special guest.

Legendary rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers have today announced their return to Australia for four massive stadium shows in early 2023, as part of their global stadium tour.

Returning for the first time since 2019, the tour will commence in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on January 29 before heading to Accor Stadium, Sydney on February 2, followed by Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on February 7 and concluding in Perth at Optus Stadium on February 12.

Red Hot Chili Peppers commenced their global stadium tour last month in Spain following the release of acclaimed new album Unlimited Love, with stops in London, Paris, Dublin, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and many more.

The tour marks the return of guitarist and all-around cosmic musician John Frusciante to the group, as they perform their career-spanning hits alongside tracks from their new album – their first recording with guitarist John Frusciante since 2006 and first with producer and longtime collaborator Rick Rubin since 2011.

Frusciante said “when we started writing material, we began by playing old songs by people like Johnny “Guitar” Watson, The Kinks, The New York Dolls, Richard Barrett and others.

“Ever so gradually, we started bringing in new ideas, and turning jams into songs, and after a couple of months the new stuff was all we were playing.

“The feeling of effortless fun we had when we were playing songs by other people stayed with us the whole time we were writing, and for me, this record represents our love for, and faith in each other.”

“We spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could.

“Our antennae attuned to the divine cosmos, we were just so damn grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and, once again, try to get better.

“We yearn to shine a light in the world, to uplift, connect, and bring people together. Each of the songs on our new album is a facet of us, reflecting our view of the universe.

This view of the universe is truly reflected in the album boasting a description of the interplay between the band bordering on intergalactic once again, yet elevated to another stratosphere altogether.

“Unlimited Love represents the united spirit of four individual souls still fearlessly exploring the future of their eternal friendship and musical congregation.”

Joining the Australian tour is multi-platinum-selling superstar Post Malone, with his performances marking his first Australian shows in four years.
