Seymour Duncan’s Jupiter Rails and Black Winter pickups get new colour options

Two of Seymour Duncan's most popular high-output passive humbuckers are landing in Australia in new finishes from early June 2026.

More colour options for two of the hardest-working passive pickups in the Seymour Duncan catalogue isn’t a bad way to kick off the middle of the year.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The Jupiter Rails, the signature pickup set developed with modern metal guitarist Wes Hauch, is now available with Black Rails for both six and seven-string configurations. Built around dual steel rails, a ceramic magnet and a high-output wind developed closely with Hauch himself, the Jupiter Rails were designed to deliver the kind of articulate aggression his playing demands. Aggressive mid-range focused attack, even string balance and clarity across the board – whether you’re familiar with his work in Alluvial, The Black Dahlia Murder, Devin Townsend or Thy Art Is Murder, you’ll know exactly what kind of sonic territory these are built for.

Meanwhile, the Black Winter is picking up two new looks: Black Red Zebra and Blackened White, available in both Humbucker and Trembucker formats. The pickup itself needs little introduction in metal circles. Three large ceramic magnets, a custom overwound coil design and a voicing built to stay controlled and focused no matter how low you tune – the Black Winter handles aggressive palm mutes, sweep picking and lead tones without losing string-to-string separation. The 7 and 8-string versions extend that same approach to even lower registers, and pairing the bridge model with the Black Winter neck pickup is exactly as destructive as it sounds.

Both the Jupiter Rails and Black Winter are passive designs, which matters to plenty of players who prefer to keep things simple in the signal chain. High output without the battery, the active circuit or the tonal compromises that sometimes come with them.

The new colour options don’t change what’s under the hood. They’re the same popular, high-output passive humbuckers, but for guitarists who want their instrument to look as good as it sounds, the expanded options are a welcome addition.

Both the Jupiter Rails Black Rail and Black Winter new finishes are available in Australia from early June 2026 through Australis Music Group.
