Ninja Tune teams up with Erica Synths for the dub-inspired Zen Delay

Created after a particularly inspiring trip to Superbooth in Berlin, the Zen Delay provides punters with a BPM-synced delay line with a multimode 24dB synth filter and valve overdrive. The unit also makes use of extreme feedback ranges to offer itself as the perfect pedal for connoisseurs of dub – the gentleman’s genre – as well as those operating within the realms of lo-fi or experimental genres.

The layout of the Zen Delay is simple: there’s one bakelite knob per function, ensuring that all parameters of the pedal can be twisted and tweaked for the most hands-on sonic experience possible. There’s knobs for feedback, delay time, six different delay modes, resonance, drive, VCF cutoff and VCF mode, as well as controls for dry/wet, in level and a tap tempo function. The unit was designed to particularly appeal to DJs and producers, and while it certainly begs to be used under lights on stage, we reckon it’d be a mean studio centrepiece too.

Although the Zen Delay does boast a pretty outrageous pricetag, it’s definitely cool to see such a revered electronic label as Ninja Tune dip their toes into the effects sector. If you please, you can predorder the pedal today – Ninja Tune reckon they should be shipping in time for Christmas.
