PreSonus roll out new PX-1 and PM-2 microphones

The two new mics both fall into the diaphragm condenser category, making them suitable for a range of applications in the studio and the stage. PreSonus claim that both microphones offer ‘exceptional clarity’, and both models should be available to purchase now.

The PreSonus PX-1 features a cardioid polar pattern with a 25mm gold-sputtered capsule, constructed with 6 micron mylar. The microphone boasts a frequency response of 20 Hz to 18 kHz, with a maximum SPL of 135 dB and a noise level of 18 dB SPL A-wtd. This one’s best suited to recording sung and spoken vocals as well as guitars and other stringed instruments.

The PM-2, on the other hand, is a small diaphragm condenser microphone, and is sold as a sonically matched pair intended for stereo recordings. They’ve got a cardioid polar pattern with 3/4 inch gold-sputtered capsules, as well as a frequency response of 40 Hz to 19 kHz, a maximum SPL of 135 dB and an equivalent noise level of 22 dB SPL A-wtd. The lightweight nature of the microphone, as well as the accompanying stereo bar, makes the PM-2 perfect for recording acoustic instruments, ensembles and drum overheads.
