NAMM 2020: Ashdown launch new bass guitar range, detail new compact amplifiers

The brand’s new bass range, which is created in partnership with Chicago luthier Dan Lakin, is comprised of four models, all with different body shapes and appointments such as Hipshot tuners, Dunlop strap locks and Wilkinson bridges. These models include The Grail, The Arc, The Low Rider and The Saint, which are respectively based on the Jazz Bass, Precision Bass, Ibanez Talman and Gibson Thunderbird. All models boast matching headstocks, high-gloss poly alder bodies, maple necks and 20 fret rosewood fretboards, with The Grail also being available in a 5-string and short-scale configuration.

Ashdown have also unveiled two new compact, lightweight aluminum amplifiers: the Ant bass amp, and the Newt for guitarists. They both boast 200 watts of power, weigh in at a meek 915 grams, and feature incredibly portable dimensions: 210mm x 188mm x 62mm. The Newt and Ant both make use of an onboard three-band EQ and a transformer balanced DI output to plug straight into your pedalboard, as well as a -10dB passive/active pad switch and onboard headphone preamp. The Newt also features a mid scoop control, while the Ant utilises a shape knob to allow for comprehensive tone sculpting.
