Vox has introduced the AC Mini, described as a carefully distilled take on the iconic look, sound, and feel of the brand’s AC Series amplifiers, packed into a compact and affordable format.
The AC Series traces its roots back to 1958, when the original AC15 was introduced to meet growing demand from British guitarists for louder, more expressive amplification. A year later, at the request of The Shadows’ Hank Marvin, Vox built a bigger sibling capable of cutting through screaming crowds at Cliff Richard’s concerts, giving rise to the AC30. Both amps went on to define the chiming, jangly tone behind the British Invasion, used extensively by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Kinks, and later carried forward by artists including Queen’s Brian May, Tom Petty, and U2’s the Edge. The AC Series remains in continuous production today, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential amplifier lines in the history of the electric guitar.

Designed to harness the responsiveness and satisfaction players associate with great tube amps, the AC Mini aims to deliver deeply responsive, satisfying guitar tones that go well beyond what its compact size would suggest. At the centre of that experience is the Vox Dynamic Response Circuit, a unique, all-analog circuit engineered to replicate the tonal response of a classic tube amp.
Much like a classic tube amp, the AC Mini features a simple, intuitive control panel inspired by classic Vox AC amps, letting players dial in iconic tones without menu-diving or careful tweaking required.
Elsewhere, a carefully tuned digital reverb has been voiced to emulate the character of a classic spring tank, while an engineered wood cabinet with a bass-reflex design is aimed at delivering rich low-end response. An onboard BOOST switch adds gain and sustain to the preamp, pushing the amp into expressive, natural overdrive at the flick of a switch.
Rounding out the feature set, an aux input and headphone output cater to quiet practice sessions and playing along with backing tracks. Vox describes the AC Mini’s compact, refined look as unmistakably Vox, designed to work wherever inspiration strikes.
