Now, Harmony have given the H-72 the reissue treatment and stepped out with the Comet; the latest entry into the brand’s Standard Series.
Constructed in the USA, the Comet seeks to add a modern twist to the H-72, with Harmony revising the guitar to feature a semi-hollow construction, with mahogany being used for the body and neck of the instrument.
The guitar also features a C-shaped neck profile with a 25″ scale length for good measure, while a 12″ radius ebony fretboard and 22 medium jumbo frets provide a familar surface for darting about the frets.
As per the original, the Comet is loaded with gold foil pickups, and also features Orange drop capacitors in the harness to improve tonal clarity. The guitar also features a push-pull volume knob to dial in an out-of-phase tone for wild, squawky sounds, while the knobs themselves are based on those classic cupcake controls of yore.
Rounding out the guitar, the Comet features a bone nut, tune-o-matic bridge with stoptail and locking tuners, with each guitar also coming with a rugged Mono Vertigo gig bag. Harmony are also offering the Comet in a range of eye-catching nitrocellulose finishes, including Midnight Blue, Transparent Red and Sunburst.
Hear the Harmony Comet in all its glory in the video below. We understand that these guitars are set to arrive some time in November – might be a nice one to add onto the Christmas list!
