If you’ve been around the traps for long enough, you’ll know that Fender’s Japanese division are responsible for some of the most forward thinking releases from the brand in years, and this new MIJ Modern Series is perfect proof. The range is comprised of seven new models based on classic Jazz Bass, Jazzmaster, Stratocaster and Telecaster shapes, with each featuring their own slick nuances to make for a formidable new series.
Each model features an illustrious carved and bound top, which really gives the range a touch of luxury that Fender typically isn’t associated with, as well as carved heels and extra-slick compound necks for speedy shredding and upper-fret access. All of the pickups found in each guitar are also fourth generation Fender Noiseless pickups, while a number of models also feature modified modern humbuckers for nailing heavy tones without unwanted noise in the background.
The new dual humbucker MIJ Modern Telecaster, Stratocaster and Jazzmaster also come fitted with the bare minimum for knobs and appointments, and feature monochrome finishes with elegant matching headstocks, which we reckon would be a feast for the eyes onstage with any heavy band.
Meanwhile, the MIJ Modern HSS Stratocaster, SSS Strat, Telecaster and Jazz Bass seem to be tonal chameleons, suitable for dynamic players that need a dynamic, reliable workhorse to tackle any genre.
These new models are only available in selected Australian dealers, which you can check out below. If anything takes your fancy, be sure to get in touch and secure your order today – chances are these won’t last long in stores.
