New finishes have landed across the reissue range while the year-specific pickups and hardware stay exactly as they were.
Fender has given seven of its American Vintage II reissues a new finish this week, without changing anything else. Accuracy is the whole point of the range – period-correct bodies, necks and hardware, with year-specific pickups voiced to match the originals – so the specs stay put and only the colours are new.

1961 Stratocaster Surf Green
The ’61 Strat now comes in Surf Green over rosewood. It keeps the alder body, three Pure Vintage 1961 pickups and a medium C-shape maple neck with a 7.25″ radius rosewood board, plus the vintage synchronised tremolo and single-line Fender Deluxe tuners.
1973 Stratocaster Olympic White
The ’73 Strat picks up Olympic White with a maple fingerboard. It carries the large CBS-era headstock, a three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt and Pure Vintage ’73 staggered pole pickups.
1963 Telecaster Vintage Blonde
The ’63 Tele arrives in Vintage Blonde with rosewood. Clay dots sit narrow-spaced at the 12th fret, and Pure Vintage ’63 pickups run through a three-saddle threaded-steel bridge.
1972 Telecaster Thinline Candy Apple Red
The semi-hollow Thinline moves to Candy Apple Red with maple. It’s the WideRange-loaded model built around resurrected CuNiFe magnets.
1975 Telecaster Deluxe Vintage Blonde
The Deluxe takes Vintage Blonde with maple, keeping its pair of WideRange humbuckers.
1977 Telecaster Custom 3-Color Sunburst
The ’77 Custom lands in 3-Color Sunburst over rosewood, with a WideRange humbucker at the neck and a Pure Vintage ’77 single-coil at the bridge.
1966 Jazz Bass Lake Placid Blue
The only bass in the update, the ’66 Jazz Bass, comes in Lake Placid Blue with a rosewood board, white neck binding, pearl dots, a matching painted headstock and Pure Vintage ’66 pickups.
