The collection of guitars, which all date back to Fender’s Golden Era between 1955-65, have previously been used as reference points and models for the company when reissuing or modeling era-specific instruments. Each guitar is in immaculate condition, and while they’re not exactly within what most would consider to be an affordable price range, there’s no doubting that they’re the real deal, with Fender Custom Shop’s Mike Lewis stating that “The DNA of these guitars can be seen across nearly every guitar we’ve crafted, and we’re proud to open up our vaults to give musicians and collectors the chance to own a piece of Fender history.”
Comprised of five pristine Stratocasters, including an ash 1954 Two Colour Sunburst model and a Two Tone Sunburst model from March 1957, as well as three examples of pristine L serial 1965 Stratocasters (finished in Three Tone Sunburst, Candy Apple Red and Lake Placid Blue, nonetheless), it’s certainly a collection that exemplifies just how spot on Leo Fender’s original designs were. In addition, Reverb and Fender are offering a two-year Fender Custom Shop warranty to provide servicing and repairs for the buyer, as well as delivering the instruments personally to whoever’s got the funds to pick ’em up.
While it looks like all five models have already been snapped up, you can still suss out the guitars and read up on their history here.
