Fender adds new models and colours to California acoustic range

Four new models are joining the California Series in what is sure to be welcome news for guitarists, bassists, and any left-handed player. The new models are the Villager 12-string guitar, Kingman bass guitar, left-handed Newporter, and left-handed Redondo Player guitars.

Offering a modern take on a traditional Villager headstock, alongside a cutaway Newporter shape, Fishman electronics, and a gloss black finish. According to Fender, this model is designed for “a new generation of fearless players.”

Merging acoustic and electric elements, the Kingman features a new body modeled after the Newporter style, plus a mahogany Jazz Bass neck, a cutaway for easy access to the upper reaches of the fingerboard, and a gloss black finish.

The Newporter prides itself on being unconventional and boasts features such as a mahogany back and sides, a 6-in-line headstock, and a fully-painted gloss metallica solid spruce top. Each appointment is in place to add “a shot of electrifying style” to the guitar.

With a rich voice to fill any room, the Redondo arrives with a commanding attitude and serious specs to boot. It features the Redondo-exclusive slope-shouldered body shape, a gloss metallic back and sides, and a matching painted 6-in-line headstock.

Elsewhere in the Fender factory, the California Coast Series Ukuleles have been given a facelift with a host of new colourways on show.

The Venice Soprano now offers finishes of Surf Green, Daphne Blue, and Shell Pink, while the Zuma Classic is available in Burgundy Mist, Candy Apple Red, and Lake Placid Blue.

All the new colours are inspired by Fender’s Southern Califonia roots.
