The CDJ-1500X brings cloud connectivity, NFC login and a new crowd interaction service to a smaller footprint than the CDJ-3000X.
AlphaTheta has announced the CDJ-1500X, a compact DJ multi player that carries over the core feature set of the flagship CDJ-3000X into a significantly smaller design. At 252 × 375 × 117 mm and 3.6 kg, it’s aimed at bars, small clubs and mobile setups where booth space is tight or for when you need to travel around – no one wants to lug around heavy gear, especially when there’s a lightweight alternative.

The same 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen from the CDJ-3000X is here, displaying up to 15 tracks at once with waveform previews and visual markers for vocal positions, BPM changes and phrase structures. Playlists can be rearranged directly on the unit via Playlist Edit, with no need to go back to a laptop or re-export to USB.
Built-in Wi-Fi connects the CDJ-1500X to rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, and StreamingDirectPlay adds support for Apple Music, Beatport Streaming and Tidal. NFC login lets you tap a smartphone with rekordbox installed to pull up your personal settings and playlists instantly, so arriving with just a phone and starting from your own library is a realistic option.
The CDJ-1500X is also the first AlphaTheta player compatible with CoBeat, a new crowd interaction service launching 9 July. Audience members scan a QR code to browse a pre-selected track catalogue, vote on what gets played or send song requests directly to the CDJ’s browse screen. Emoji reactions from the crowd appear as pop-ups on the DJ’s phone in real time. CoBeat can be switched on or off at any point during a set.
Other features include 8 Hot Cue buttons, a Beat Loop knob, Beat Sync and Beat Jump, a mid-size jog wheel with a non-slip surface, a dual USB bay (one Type-A, one Type-C) on the front panel, and 12 selectable LED colours. Optional side panels let you swap the look of the unit with different colours and materials. The CDJ-1500X is compatible with rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro and djay Pro.
