Dean break their own mould with the lavish new Colt Bigsby

Given the spiky monsters and oblique oddities we’re used to seeing from Dean, the Colt may come as a bit of a surprise to some: the brand certainly aren’t known for creating instruments like this. However, when you look at the build of this particular model, you’ve really got to reconsider things – it really does look quite magnificent.

Reminiscent of a White Falcon, the Colt Bigsby features a Vintage White finish with gold hardware, including the titular Bigbsy tremolo. It also boasts a maple neck and body, and an ebony fretboard with block inlays. There’s 22 tall-narrow frets to play on, while the 25.5″ C-shaped neck is matched with a 16″ fretboard radius for a slick playing experience.

However, it’s the electronics that’ll make you twist your head here. The Colt boasts two Dean magnetic humbuckers, as well as a piezo built in under the bridge saddle, letting you capture the Colt’s semi-hollow tones far more effectively. There’s also dual passive outputs to create wide and jangly stereo tones, as well as options to bypass the piezo or humbuckers or even patch both independently for a blended mono tone.
