Ibanez 2021 Signature models

The Joe Satriani JS2410, a mainstay in the Ibanez range, has been revamped with a new Sky Blue finish, while red DiMarzio Satch Track and Mo’Joe pickups provide a contrast to the cool tones of the body.

Like its forebearer, the guitar features an alder body and three-piece maple/bubinga neck with a 24 fret rosewood fretboard, plus an Edge tremolo system and a push-pull high-pass filter on the volume control.

In what be one of the more regal launches we’ve seen for NAMM this year, the PIA3761 sees Ibanez rejig the Steve Via PIA with a stark Black finish with contrasting black and gold hardware for a striking look. Gold is also used for the guitar’s floral fretboard inlays, which also spreads down to the two DiMarzio UtoPIA humbuckers.

Similar to the updated Satch model, the PIA3761 features all the same specs as last year’s model – think an alder body, five-piece maple neck with rosewood fretboard and 24 frets, plus that sweet Petal Grip, Edge tremolo and magnetic tremolo cavity plate.

August Burns Red guitarist JB Brubaker’s JBBM30 has also received an update for 2021, with the signature model now being available in Black Flat with white competition stripes and EMG 81 and 85 humbuckers. Other features include a Gibraltar Standard II bridge, Gotoh MG-T locking tuners and a factory tuning of CGCFAD.

New to the signature range in 2021 is the Ibanez LB1, honouring the talents of Brazilian shredder Lari Basilio. Made in Japan, it boasts an ash body with a roasted birdseye maple neck and fretboard with 22 frets and mother of pearl inlays, while Seymour Duncan Lari Basilio pickups adorn the neck, middle and bridge positions.

Elsewhere, the LB-1 features a Gotoh T1702B tremolo and a dyna-MIX9 switching system to alternate between humbucker and single coil sounds, resulting in a shred-ready guitar that packs a mighty array of tricks up its sleeves. It also sports gold hardware and a dope purple finish – nice.

There’s also the new Ibanez JGM10 acoustic guitar; a signature model for fingerstyle hero Jon Gomm. It features a distinctive asymmetrical jumbo body shape with thermo aged Solid Sitka Spruce for the top and Pau Ferro for the backs and sides, with this particular tonewood combo offering a perfect platform for Gomm’s dynamic percussive playing.

Other features include an African mahogany neck and Macassar ebony fretboard, plus a Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend Active soundhole pickup and PowerTap Earth Blend preamp with dual outputs.
