With the panel focusing on a wide range of topics stemming from Taylor’s musical projects, the Slipknot frontman singled out various masks worn throughout his career, revealing that the mask created for the band’s debut album was by far his least favourite.
“They were all fucking horrible. The hardest was my original with the dreads. Anything that’s full-headed – there’s just no getting out of it,” said Taylor, as well as highlighting the difficulties of the mask worn throughout the Iowa touring cycle.
“The Iowa one was foam rubber… The ones from the first album were thin but then we get a little money and were like, ‘Wow, let’s make some cool shit for the Iowa run!’ They were basically just like giant sponges.”
Taylor also singled out the mask made for 2004’s Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) as being his favourite, despite having continuous microphone clearance issues while performing with it on. Watch the full Q&A via Kerrang below, which also includes Taylor announcing a new Slipknot album in the works.
