Pixies are reissuing their Complete B-Sides: 1988-97 compilation on vinyl for the first time, remastered from the original analogue tapes and expanded with six bonus live tracks, out 26 June via 4AD.
Twenty-five years after its original CD release, the Pixies B-sides collection is finally making it to wax. Complete B-Sides: 1988-97 lands on 26 June 2026 via 4AD, remastered and expanded as part of the band’s ongoing 40th anniversary celebrations, and available on double black vinyl, double clear vinyl and double CD.

Originally released in 2001 while the band were deep into hiatus, the compilation brought together 19 B-sides from the classic 4AD era spanning 1988 to 1991. Tracks like ‘Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf)’, ‘Into The White’, ‘Bailey’s Walk’ and ‘The Thing’ made it essential listening for anyone who’d already worn out their copies of Doolittle and Surfer Rosa. Pitchfork gave it a 9.6 at the time, calling Pixies “the blinding visionaries of the 80s” and noting that “virtually everything they touched was groundbreaking and revelatory.”
For the new edition, Kevin Vanbergen has remastered all tracks from their original analogue tapes, completing his extensive remastering work across the band’s catalogue. The original tracklisting fits across three sides of vinyl, with the fourth side featuring six live tracks taken from Pixies single releases, including the 1997 re-release of ‘Debaser’.
Designer Chris Bigg of v23, a long-term Pixies collaborator, created new visuals using photographs from Simon Larbalestier’s archive that were originally intended for use by the band but were ultimately shelved. Both Bigg and Larbalestier worked across this reissue and the recent Live at the BBC reissue simultaneously, with both projects serving as a tribute to the band’s late visual director Vaughan Oliver.
