The event seeks to break the current Guiness World Record, achieved with only 368 participants playing ‘Knockin’ on Heavens’s Door’ in Dimapur, India back in 2013. Organisers have assured participants they need not fret over any fumblings – musos of all ages and skill levels are welcome at the event, provided they are reasonably confident playing ‘Highway to Hell’ from start to finish on electric guitar or bass.
Participants in the attempt will either pay $45, inclusive of a Marshall MS2 battery powered amp (yours to keep!), or $20 requiring a BYO battery amp, via the event’s Ready Fund Go page. All profits made on the day will be given to the Australian Children’s Music Foundation, who support disadvantaged kids and change lives with music. Two generous guitarists making donations upwards of $1000 will also be granted a slice of the spotlight on the day, with cameras and lights pointed firmly at their best guitar faces.
The guitar bonanza will go down at 2pm on Sunday August 12 at The Concourse in Chatswood, NSW. Stay tuned to the Facebook event page for more details.
