Music Director – RTRFM (Perth)
RTRFM is an independent community-owned media company presenting a diverse range of music and talks programs with a heavy emphasis on supporting Western Australian cultural creativity. The company has a strong focus on local arts and music, and offers an alternative to mainstream media organisations.
We’re looking for a new Music Director to help define the ‘sound’ of ‘The Sound Alternative’. The successful applicant will be responsible for the addition of new music to our library, as well as championing local artists and releases, and guiding volunteer presenters as they seek to program their shows.
Skills / Experience Required:
- Vast awareness and appreciation of all kinds of music, with an ability to articulate and recognise music and artists that ‘fit’ RTRFM’s sound.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced working environment.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Suite.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Extensive knowledge of community radio, and in particular RTRFM.
- Experience working in a volunteer or community organisation, managing a team or related activities.
Tasks / Responsibilities Include:
- Liaise with record distribution companies, management and artists to ensure RTRFM is receiving the latest music across all genres relevant to RTRFM programming; develop relationships to keep RTRFM top of mind for releases.
- Ensure 25% local content and a further 10% Australian content is aired on RTRFM, and 100 hours of local & Australian content for use and distribution by RTRFM per year.
- Liaise and support Breakfast & Talks team in coordination of music-based interviews and live-performances on Breakfast and other shows as required.
- Coordinate transfer of relevant new music into the physical music library and the digital music database, and ensure digital music listings are up to date.
- Work with volunteers to ensure digital music database and listings are up to date.
- Make weekly music recommendations to all Peak music programs (Breakfast – Drivetime) and overnight specialist music programs.
- Select and coordinate all feature albums and The Sound Selection across the station, including giveaways.
- Support the music programming of RTRFM’s morning talks program and other talks programs as required.
- Report to the General Manager with any member issues that occur either on-air or off-air.
- Ensure security, integrity and confidentiality of data.
- Participate in administrative tasks shared by all RTRFM staff (answering phones, welcoming guests, processing at POS).

Media and Promo Manager – Universal Music Australia (Melbourne)

The newly minted Virgin Music Australia (formerly Caroline) is the Label Services Arm of Universal Music. Virgin Music Australia is looking to appoint a Media and Promotions Manager (Melbourne office) to promote Virgin artists and releases through the design and execution of creative and effective promotional campaigns.
Skills / Experience Required:
- Preferable 1-2 years experience in a similar role or a role with relevant promotions experience in the music/entertainment industry
- Demonstrated relationship-building skills
- Knowledge or practical understanding of the digital music market and digitally focused marketing campaigns
- A broad music knowledge including Virgin repertoire is vital
- Proven organisational, co-ordination and time management skills

Tasks / Responsibilities Include:
- Promoting Virgin artists to AUS media, with a focus on community radio and online
- Working closely with wider Virgin AU team to create and implement national campaigns – pitching widespread artist promo and coverage, as well as overseeing all VIC on-ground opportunities
- Applying a professional, personable and “can do” attitude to artist, management and label requests.
- Campaign briefing, debriefing and weekly reporting

- Responsible for ensuring all said media enquiries are followed up thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Act as a central co-ordination point for all artists you represent with said media contacts, and pitch and co-ordinate activities, interviews, competitions, live performances, etc.
- Ensure that key promotional contacts attend our artist launch events and gigs.

First Nations Development Coordinator – MusicNSW (Sydney)
MusicNSW are looking for someone to oversee the research and development of MusicNSW’s First Nations music programs, projects and initiatives, and contribute to the organisation’s sector advocacy across NSW.
This is an identified position, within the meaning of special measures under subsection 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.
Skills / Experience Required:
- Existing First Nations music industry relationships and connections
- Familiarity and understanding of current best-practice cultural protocols and processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of the contemporary music industry
- Program development experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly efficient with a diligent work ethic
- Experience working with First Nations communities
- An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and
- An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Tasks / Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and delivering projects and initiatives to drive First Nations music development
- Building networks with First Nations contemporary music industry professionals, organisations and artists in Sydney, Western Sydney and Regional NSW
- Researching and creating a First Nations musicians and industry directory

They are searching for a musician (violinist, violist, cellist, or double bassist) to join our sales team. This team member will be based at our store in Chatswood and will help to run the day-to-day activities in the showroom.
