Mesa brings back the 90s Dual Rectifier Standard in its original polished aluminium Diamond Plate dress

Words by Mixdown

Mesa/Boogie's iconic Dual Rectifier returns in its classic 90s form, available in Australia from May 2026.

When the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo Head arrived in 1992, it basically rewrote the rulebook on what heavy could sound like. Scooped mids, crushing low end, harmonic-drenched top end and a feel that made playing feel almost effortless. It ended up all over radio, all over defining records of the era, and eventually all over virtually every amp modeller worth its salt. Now, Mesa is bringing it back in the form it was always meant to be seen in.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The 90s Dual Rectifier Standard lands with the original aesthetic fully intact: black chassis, chrome speed knobs and that unmistakable polished aluminium Diamond Plate. It’s striking before you’ve even plugged in.

Under the hood, it carries the Vintage/Orange and Modern/Red overdrive sounds that made the original Solo Head so influential, alongside an improved Clean mode. The dual channel layout keeps things simple and direct, so no unnecessary complexity. Channel Style/Cloning lets you copy the mode voicings between channels, which is a handy feature for dialling in a consistent sound across your setup.

The patented switchable rectifiers are still here too, toggling between tube and silicon diode rectification to shift the feel and character of the amp. Running 100 watts of Class A/B tube power, it also offers Bias Select so you can run stock 6L6 tubes or swap to EL34s depending on what you’re after. The BOLD/SPONGY Variac switch drops the voltage for increased harmonics and a more elastic, responsive feel – something players who’ve spent time with Rectifiers tend to get genuinely attached to

The improved Clean mode alone makes this more than a reissue – the solo head is now a more versatile tool than the original, and the build quality Mesa brings to the table today speaks for itself.

The Mesa/Boogie 90s Dual Rectifier Standard is available in Australia from May 2026 through Australis Music Group.
