The album promises to be a raw and at times brutal listening experience, but also offers a beautiful and rewarding journey through the band’s discography. Founder Joshua Homme’s lyrics are acerbic, underscored by the distinctive QOTSA sound that we have come to know and love. The album features new and unprecedented twists in almost every song, reminding us that sometimes beauty can be found beneath scars and scabs.
The album is a reflection of the band’s desire to create music that they can relate to, while also providing a forum for others to come together through sound. The world may be ending soon, but QOTSA are promising us a place to ride it out. The first single, “Emotion Sickness,” provides listeners with a warm and hypnotic chorus that is punctuated by tinges of psychic turbulence. The song’s lyric video, created by Liam Lynch, is live now on the bands YouTube channel.
“In Times New Roman” was recorded and mixed at Homme’s own Pink Duck studio, with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by Queens of the Stone Age and mixed by Mark Rankin. The album will be available on all digital platforms, as well as on vinyl and CD. The artwork and packaging were designed by long-time collaborator Boneface, and the LP vinyl will be available in various colors globally.
