The first NYD festival to be announced post-COVID, the next Let Them Eat Cake instalment is proof that patience is a virtue.

“We are so excited to announce we’re back!” Let Them Eat Cake Festival Director Daniel Teuma told Beat Magazine. “It’s been a testing period; however, we focussed on staying positive and used the break to fine-tune the festival’s finer points, really assess where we’re at and what we want to do.

“We’re confident that 2022 will be our best one yet,” he continues. “Of course, the spectre of the pandemic looms large, but we are in a great position: the event is currently classified as a Tier 2 event, which under the current guidelines, allows for 7,500 attendees.”

Hibernating and strategising across the last 12 or so months, Let Them Eat Cake have reconceptualised their iconic Werribee Mansion space – one so large it’s deemed fitting for COVIDSafe protocols.

“The Mansion grounds are so big. We might try a new layout this year to complement the site better and improve traffic flow. We are also looking at a more immersive experience overall – meaning those who explore might be rewarded with more adventure,” Teuma continues.

Expect Let Them Eat Cake 2022 to be a more fully-formed experience, resulting in an immersive interplay of the festival’s many components.

“The overall aim for 2022 will be to tie every aspect together. From the artwork to the visuals to the food, it will be a more cohesive experience,” Teuma says. “Sound is a top priority for us, and we will once again get the Full Throttle Entertainment team on board. No expense will be spared to ensure the sound is 150%. People will be blown away, we wager that we might have the biggest sound system in Melbourne on NYD.”

With preparations for its ensuing event at full tilt, punters can expect a refreshed and excited Let Them Eat Cake come the first day of 2022. Next up is the lineup, which the festival says will be with us in September.
