The updated pack pairs a revoiceable kick with i5, D2, D4 and ADX51 mics for a standard five-piece kit, in a restyled road case.
AUDIX has reworked its best-selling DP7 drum kit pack, with the seven-piece DP7X coming with a new kick mic, the D6X, that puts the low end under your control.

The D6X replaces the long-serving D6, and its main addition is a recessed, tool-free switch that changes the kick’s low-end character across three settings. Deep keeps the pre-shaped sound of the original D6, a modern low end that cuts through a mix. Balanced adds presence through the mids and upper mids for a more traditional kick voice while holding onto the D6’s punch. Natural rolls off the top a little and fills out the mids for a more linear, acoustic sound, and suits percussion, bass cabinets and other low-frequency sources.
As with the rest of the range, the D6X uses AUDIX’s VLM (Very Low Mass) diaphragm for fast transient response, and it’s designed, machined and assembled in the US. It handles sound pressure levels of 144 dB and up without distortion, so a hard-hit kick won’t faze it.
“The addition of the flagship D6X introduces a level of low-end versatility never before seen in a pre-configured package,” says Steve Young, AUDIX’s director of sales. “Drummers can now adapt their core kick sound between modern click, balanced punch, or natural resonance in seconds.”
The remainder of the pack covers a standard five-piece kit, with the i5 taking care of the snare – a dynamic cardioid built for close-range transients and its crack. Two hypercardioid D2s are designed for the rack toms, with a D4 on the floor tom reaching down to 40 Hz for the low fundamentals. Overheads come from a matched pair of ADX51 condensers, their 14mm gold-sputtered capsules smoothing cymbals and holding a phase-coherent stereo image of the kit.
The mics come in a restyled rugged nylon case with better shock protection and interior organisation. Mounting hardware is included too, with four DVICE rim-mount clamps, three DCLIP mic clips, an MC1 nylon clip and two WS81C windscreens for the overheads.
