“It’s a really great and exciting time for me to be joining forces with Gibson,” says Kirk Hammett. “I look forward to achieving great things together in the future.”

Kirk, who started playing Gibson guitars in 1979, has been rocking them since. When playing live, Kirk often will play his Gibson ’59 Les Paul Standard which he has named “Greeny” as it was originally the guitar of Peter Green, who started Fleetwood Mac.

“It’s an honor to welcome the icon, the ripper, Kirk Hammett back to the Gibson family,” says Cesar Gueikian, Brand President, Gibson Brands. “Kirk has been carrying the flag for hard rock and heavy metal for decades, and his Gibson guitars have been there with him from the very beginning.”

In the welcoming video, they tease that there will not just be one guitar, but a whole range of guitars from the Gibson family of brands, which is great news for metal fans the world over.

With no actual details about what’s to come we can only speculate, but something in the Flying V or Les Paul area wouldn’t surprise us.

Check out this video below in which Kirk and Cesar chat about the partnership in detail and generally chat about all things guitar.
